Inspector – Lifting Equipment

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Inspector to perform inspection, certification and proof‑load testing of a wide range of lifting equipment and related machinery. The role involves applying international codes and standards to ensure safety and compliance for clients in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractual technical standards and define quality plans for inspection assignments.
• Select appropriate inspection techniques and execute inspections according to BV quality system.
• Prepare inspection reports, handle non‑conformities and ensure delivery of required documentation.
• Witness and certify proof‑load testing of lifting gears, cranes, elevators and offshore cargo units.
• Maintain internal and external communication, share knowledge and continuously develop expertise.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3‑8 years experience in lifting, construction, earth‑moving equipment or elevator inspection.
• Qatar Energy Approved Inspector status with at least 3 years of post‑qualification inspection experience.
• Familiarity with LEEA qualifications (Part 1, Lifting Gear General, Lifting Machines Manual/Power, etc.).
• Knowledge of relevant codes: BS 7671, EN 81, EN 115, BS 2830, PED, EN 764, EN 12959, EN 12953, EN 14570, API 510.

Required skills

• Lifting equipment inspection and certification.
• Proof‑load testing procedures for cranes, forklifts, man‑lifts and offshore units.
• Report writing and computer skills.
• Interpretation of inspection results (pass/fail).
• English language proficiency; Arabic is a plus.
