Lead Drainage Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Lead Drainage Engineer to head the drainage discipline on major infrastructure and development projects in Doha. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with standards, and deliver innovative storm‑water solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and deliver drainage and storm‑water management systems.
• Act as primary point of contact for the drainage discipline and deputise for the design manager when required.
• Manage hydraulic and hydrological modelling, flood risk assessments and drainage impact studies.
• Review, validate and approve calculations, drawings and reports produced by junior staff.
• Develop water‑sensitive urban design (WSUD) solutions and liaise with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical responses to bids and level‑of‑effort estimates.
• Control project timelines, budgets and resources.
• Mentor team members and stay current with emerging technologies and regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology or Water Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 20 years of experience in water engineering, storm‑water drainage design and flood analysis.
• Proven leadership experience on large‑scale civil or transport projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD and BIM tools.
• Experience using SWMM, StormCAD, HEC‑RAS and HEC‑HMS.
• Mandatory knowledge of InfoWorks ICM (1D/2D) for hydraulic and hydrologic modelling.
• Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics and WSUD principles.
