Learning & Development Specialist – Oil & Gas

About the role

The Learning & Development Specialist will lead the design, delivery, and measurement of training programs that build competency, ensure compliance, and support succession planning for a technical workforce in the oil and gas industry. This role partners with business units, HR, and external providers to align learning initiatives with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) with department managers to identify capability gaps.
• Develop and implement annual training and development plans that support business goals.
• Administer SAP SuccessFactors LMS – create courses, schedule sessions, manage nominations, track completions, and generate reports.
• Coordinate internal and external technical, behavioral, compliance, and leadership training programs.
• Support competency management and workforce development initiatives.
• Monitor training compliance and mandatory certification requirements.
• Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and post‑training evaluations.
• Produce learning dashboards, KPIs, and analytics to measure outcomes.
• Manage relationships with training vendors, consultants, and external learning providers.
• Drive digital learning initiatives, including e‑learning development and continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, IT, Organizational Development, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Learning & Development, Training Management, or Talent Development.
• Mandatory experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, energy, or other process industries.
• Proven experience managing technical workforce training and competency programs at scale.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SAP SuccessFactors LMS (mandatory).
• Knowledge of Learning Needs Analysis, Training Administration, and Competency Management.
• Experience with learning analytics, reporting, and dashboard creation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with HR systems and digital learning platforms.
