Lifting Equipment Superintendent

About the role

The Lifting Equipment Superintendent oversees the safe operation, maintenance, inspection and certification of all lifting equipment across project sites. The role ensures compliance with international lifting standards, manufacturer recommendations and HSE requirements while maximizing equipment availability and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all lifting equipment activities, including mobile cranes, crawler cranes, forklifts, manlifts and scissor lifts.
• Lead the lifting division workforce – operators, riggers, inspectors and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure equipment and lifting gear are inspected, maintained, repaired and certified according to regulations, industry standards and OEM requirements.
• Review, develop and approve lifting plans, rigging studies, risk assessments and method statements for complex heavy lifts.
• Monitor technical integrity and certification status of crane structures, booms, wire ropes, load moment indicators and safety devices.
• Coordinate with manufacturers, dealers and service providers on technical issues, repairs, upgrades and warranty matters.
• Utilize lifting engineering software and load‑chart analysis tools to support safe lifting operations.
• Develop equipment replacement, refurbishment and asset‑management strategies to optimise fleet reliability and lifecycle costs.
• Prepare operational reports, maintenance records, inspection documentation and management presentations.
• Lead investigations of lifting incidents, equipment failures and near‑misses, implementing corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years experience in lifting equipment operations, maintenance and fleet management.
• At least 5 years supervisory or managerial experience within the GCC.
• Proven experience managing large fleets of heavy lifting equipment (e.g., TEREX DEMAG, LIEBHERR, KOBELCO).
• Experience on large‑scale construction, infrastructure or oil & gas projects.
