Lifting Specialist

About the role

Saipem is seeking an experienced Lifting Specialist to join its Operations Department in Doha, Qatar. The role will be the offshore lifting and rigging focal point, responsible for planning, reviewing and controlling all heavy and critical lifts throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and approve offshore lifting plans, rigging arrangements, lift studies and calculations.
• Coordinate lifting interfaces between engineering, marine, vessel operations, subsea installation and subcontractor teams.
• Provide technical support during offshore transportation, installation, recovery and subsea construction campaigns.
• Monitor offshore lifting operations, conduct risk assessments, HAZIDs and ensure compliance with company procedures, IMCA, IOGP and project specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline; LEEA certification or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of Oil & Gas experience, including at least 5 years as a Lifting or Rigging Specialist.
• Proven experience in vessel‑to‑vessel, deck‑to‑deck and subsea lowering operations.
• Fluent English; experience working with international teams in the Middle East is an advantage.

Required skills

• Offshore lifting engineering, rigging design and critical lift management.
• Dynamic Amplification Factor (DAF) calculations, safe working load verification and crane utilization assessments.
• Knowledge of wire ropes, shackles, hooks, slings, spreader beams, lifting frames and crane systems.
• Familiarity with IMCA, IOGP, company standards and offshore lifting equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office and engineering document management systems.
