Manager of Production Operations

About the role

The Manager of Production Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for studio facilities, field production equipment, and media services that support academic and institutional initiatives at Northwestern University in Qatar. The role oversees design, installation, maintenance, and daily operation of a multi‑studio educational production environment aligned with industry standards and curriculum needs.

Key responsibilities

• Recommend purchases and capital equipment; partner with NU‑Q stakeholders to ensure facilities meet program needs.
• Advise the Director on equipment, operations, staff allocation, budgets and scalability.
• Manage and coordinate production and digital media projects across organizational units.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Broadcast Engineering and Production Coordinator on field equipment and studio operations.
• Oversee enhancements to improve reliability and performance of production equipment and studio facilities.
• Provide work direction, supervise staff, contractors, vendors and students; recommend hires and terminations.
• Coach, mentor and train staff on studio lighting, camera operation, control‑room workflows and post‑production software.
• Lead vendor relations, procurement and technology implementation, including 4K production workflows.
• Ensure continuity of operations during disruptions and adapt production models to academic needs.
• Oversee live‑event production and institutional video deliverables, providing multi‑camera coverage for major university initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (completion of a full 4‑year course of study).
• Proven experience managing production facilities, equipment inventories and technical teams.
• Strong leadership and project‑management abilities.
• Ability to work closely with faculty and integrate production resources into coursework.
