Mechanical Technical Officer

About the role

The Technical Officer (Mechanical) is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical assets, guiding technicians, and supporting departmental improvement initiatives. The role ensures proper hand‑over at shift changes and reports equipment faults to engineers and senior technical officers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team to perform assigned maintenance tasks efficiently.
• Train technicians on maintenance procedures and asset knowledge.
• Execute Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) on schedule.
• Carry out corrective maintenance tasks promptly.
• Assist subcontractors with their assigned work.
• Maintain quality standards for all work performed.
• Report defects, breakdowns, and damages to the Fault Reporting Center or engineering staff.
• Manage spare‑parts requirements and availability.
• Follow duty rosters, HSEQ standards, and client regulations.
• Prepare and review MS, RA, and COSHH documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a comparable facility.
• Strong team‑building, problem‑solving, and dispute‑resolution abilities.
• Capability to work with personnel at all organisational levels.

Required skills

• Preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) execution.
• Regulatory compliance knowledge (OSHA, MSDS, NFPA, BS standards).
• Mechanical asset management and documentation.
