Mechanical Technician – Commissioning

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment within our desalination and water‑treatment facilities. The role involves hands‑on work on pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors and RO plant components, supporting commissioning, start‑up and shutdown activities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, including alignment, lubrication and condition monitoring.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors and piping systems.
• Maintain RO plant equipment such as high‑pressure pumps, booster pumps, pressure vessels, RO skids, membranes, filters, strainers, dosing systems, heat exchangers and lifting equipment.
• Participate in commissioning, start‑up and shutdown activities and assist in root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Complete maintenance reports, update CMMS work orders and follow permit‑to‑work and HSE procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• 3–5 years of experience in desalination, water‑treatment, power plants, oil & gas or similar industrial facilities.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance management systems.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with pumps (centrifugal, vertical, submersible), motors, gearboxes, compressors and various valve types.
• Knowledge of laser alignment, dial‑gauge measurements and pump vibration analysis.
• Experience with RO desalination systems and related equipment (high‑pressure pumps, membranes, dosing systems).
• Working knowledge of PVDF and CPVC materials.
