Offshore Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas International is looking for an experienced Offshore Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector to join its offshore inspection team. The role ensures quality, safety and regulatory compliance during the Integrated Hull, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (IHUC) phases of offshore oil & gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead EPC contractor activities for inspection and testing of electrical, instrumentation and telecom systems on topside facilities, following project specifications, company codes and AFC drawings.
• Review and approve contractor procedures, Inspection & Test Plans, and ensure compliance with quality documents and project specifications.
• Conduct visual, close‑up and detailed inspections of E&I equipment for hazardous atmospheres in line with IEC 60079‑14 standards.
• Perform receipt inspection of incoming materials, IR testing of power and control cables, and witness functional testing of field instruments, fire‑gas devices and safety systems.
• Participate in weekly QA/QC meetings, walk‑downs, and manage non‑conformities (NCR/CAR) to closure.

Required profile

• Engineering Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, preferably offshore.
• Valid COMPEX (Ex01‑Ex04) or IECEx (Ex01, Ex03, Ex04, Ex06, Ex07, Ex08) certification.
• Hands‑on training with cable glands, Swagelok/Parker fittings, cable trays, MCT assemblies and related equipment.

Required skills

• Electrical, instrumentation and telecommunications inspection.
• IECEx and COMPEX certification handling.
• Infrared (IR) testing of cables, busbars and transformers.
• Functional testing of MCC panels, lighting panels, HVAC controls and motor circuits.
• Loop and performance testing of safety shutdown systems (Fire & Gas, ESD, HIPPS, VESDA).
• Calibration of instruments and custody‑transfer metering equipment.
