Process Safety Engineer

About the role

The Process Safety Engineer will support the Head of Safety and Loss Prevention Senior Engineer in implementing and maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) system across QAFCO’s projects and existing operations. This role is a key member of the Process Safety team, interfacing with operational and technical groups to ensure robust safety analyses and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and ensure compliance with QAFCO’s Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, and PSM requirements.
• Assist in developing and updating Process Safety specifications, standards, and procedures for all assets.
• Partner with operational and technical resources to verify adherence to PSM requirements during project execution.
• Lead and coordinate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies, including HAZOP, SIL, QRA, LOPA, FMEA, MHA/DHA, Dispersion Studies, and safety cases.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators and generate weekly/monthly PSM reports.
• Provide technical specifications for equipment procurement, evaluate bids, and recommend suppliers.
• Organize and lead company‑wide campaigns to promote process safety awareness.
• Lead investigations of process safety incidents, ensuring root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Process Safety Management within an industrial setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and lead safety‑focused initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills to develop specifications, standards, and performance metrics.
• Experience in coordinating safety campaigns and delivering clear safety reports.
