Secondary History Teacher

About the role

Newton British Academy – Barwa City is looking for an enthusiastic Secondary History Teacher to join its secondary phase team in Doha. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop a deep understanding of historical events, analytical skills and cultural awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality History lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
• Plan and teach engaging, differentiated lessons that promote excellent progress.
• Assess, monitor and report on student achievement and attainment.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity and critical thinking.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.
• Participate in extracurricular activities and school events.
• Uphold high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in History or a closely related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, QTS or equivalent).
• Experience teaching History in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and passion for History education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students of varying abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
