Senior Accountant – Construction Finance

About the role

Waagner Biro Bridge Services is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead financial operations for its construction projects across the UAE and Qatar. The role combines full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and cost control within a fast‑paced engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle project and job cost accounting, including WIP reporting and revenue recognition under IFRS 15.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and conduct month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar corporate income tax and withholding tax regulations, filing returns and liaising with the General Tax Authority.
• Oversee progress billing, client invoicing, accounts receivable aging, and retention balances.
• Process supplier and subcontractor invoices, verify LPOs and payment certificates, and manage cash‑flow planning.
• Support internal and external audits, enforce internal controls, and improve ERP utilization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; ACCA, CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in the construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and construction contract accounting.
• Hands‑on experience with Qatar tax compliance.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel (pivot tables, financial models).
