Senior Accountant – Transport & Logistics

About the role

Smartstep Transportation is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day‑to‑day financial operations within its transport and logistics business in Doha. The role involves maintaining accurate records, preparing management reports and ensuring full compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update all ledgers (customer, supplier, cash, bank) and prepare monthly profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow summaries.
• Generate and issue invoices for clients, school parents and service contracts, and follow up on payments while maintaining ageing reports.
• Review and verify supplier, fuel, maintenance and spare‑part invoices, ensuring payments are made within agreed credit periods.
• Prepare monthly salary sheets, WPS files and manage employee advances, deductions and end‑of‑service settlements.
• Assist in VAT return preparation and filing, provide backup documentation and coordinate audit schedules with external auditors.
• Monitor company expenses, produce variance reports for management and ensure all accounting policies comply with Qatar financial regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in transport or logistics.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Urdu; valid driver’s license and ability to relocate to Doha.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Tally accounting software.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Experience with WPS and VAT filing processes.
