Senior Athletics Coach (Girls) - Track & Field
AA Athletics Section · Doha
Job description
About the role
Aspire Academy in Doha is seeking a female Senior Athletics Coach to lead its Girls' Track & Field Athletics Programme. The role is hands-on: you will coach young athletes, support the coaches who work with them and give a clear direction to a growing programme, helping girls move from their first structured experience of athletics toward event-specific training and competition.
The programme has around 40 invited athletes across Foundation (ages 11-12), Advanced (ages 13-15) and Performance (ages 16-19) groups, with training after school and a lead delivery period of 14:30-17:00. You will work alongside two full-time coaches, two part-time Development Coaches, a Pole Vault Performance Coach and specialist support in strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and gymnastics.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the coaching plan across Foundation, Advanced and Performance groups, shaping an age-appropriate curriculum and agreeing individual athlete plans.
- Coordinate training, testing, talent identification and competition, and coach the Throws daily, giving colleagues useful feedback.
- Work with schools and talent identification staff to find girls with long-term potential.
- Balance ambition with good judgement on training load, event focus and competition, considering each athlete's age, training history, physical development and wellbeing.
- Bring together coaching, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and other specialist support so each athlete has a coherent plan, and safeguard athlete welfare and a safe training environment.
- Keep written plans, schedules and athlete information organised, track attendance and competition activity, prepare updates for colleagues and follow through on agreed actions.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook to manage information and support daily operations.
Required profile
- Substantial experience in Track & Field coaching and a strong understanding of long-term athlete development.
- Evidence of the ability to lead and develop other coaches.
- Ability to plan across a season and communicate clearly with colleagues, athletes and parents.
- Comfortable working in Qatar's multicultural environment.
- Expertise in throws is particularly desirable, especially developing young hammer and discus throwers while overseeing the full programme.
