Senior Chemist QA/QC – Petroleum & Lubricant Testing

About the role

SGS is seeking a Senior Chemist specialized in QA/QC for petroleum, lubricant and transformer oil testing. The role will lead the laboratory’s quality management system and ensure compliance with international standards while delivering reliable analytical results to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the laboratory QMS in line with ISO/IEC 17025.
• Manage all quality documentation, including SOPs, test methods, work instructions and controlled records.
• Coordinate internal audits, corrective actions, proficiency testing, method validation and measurement‑uncertainty studies.
• Support accreditation activities and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and customer requirements.
• Perform and supervise petroleum, lubricant and transformer oil testing according to ASTM, IEC and ISO standards.
• Review analytical data, validate results and authorize laboratory reports.
• Oversee laboratory safety, consumables, reference materials, equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Respond to technical customer inquiries, investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• ISO/IEC 17025 Internal Auditor Certificate.
• Minimum 5 years experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.
• Hands‑on experience with lubricant analysis, transformer oil or petroleum testing.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025, ASTM, IEC methods and laboratory quality assurance practices.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
