Senior Field Service Engineer - System 800xA Safety

About the role

ABB is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer specialized in System 800xA safety solutions. You will work onsite with customers in Qatar, delivering high‑complexity service tasks, ensuring system performance, and driving customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Execute medium to high‑complexity field service work following ABB guidelines and work instructions.
• Plan and prepare site activities for larger project teams, managing subcontractors as needed.
• Identify technical problems, perform remote or onsite analysis, and resolve issues for certified products.
• Maintain and improve customer satisfaction by meeting service timelines and expectations.
• Identify new service business opportunities in collaboration with customers and ABB teams.
• Coach and supervise technicians and engineers during complex site activities.

Required profile

• Graduate Engineer in instrumentation, electrical or equivalent engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in customer support, project or service engineering for System 800xA safety systems, preferably in oil & gas or power & water sectors.
• Hands‑on experience with System 800xA integrated control and safety hardware/software and AC800MHI library‑based application development.
• Knowledge of Functional Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and functional safety standards IEC 61511 and IEC 61508; functional safety certifications preferred.
• Experience with industrial networking, network switch configuration, and cyber‑security for 800xA systems.
• Strong analytical mindset, self‑starter attitude, and adaptability to ABB’s advanced service and digital portfolio.
