Senior Horticulturist Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Horticulturist Engineer to lead horticultural planning, supervision, and quality control for large‑scale infrastructure, urban development, and commercial landscape projects in Qatar. You will ensure planting designs meet sustainability standards, local climate conditions, and project specifications while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead horticultural aspects of landscape projects, providing planting design input, species selection, and maintenance strategies.
• Review and approve plant palettes, planting plans, and specifications for suitability to arid environments.
• Supervise on‑site planting works, including trees, shrubs, groundcovers, turf, and specialty installations such as rooftop and vertical gardens.
• Assess plant health, recommend corrective actions, and manage pest/disease control.
• Coordinate horticultural activities with landscape, irrigation, civil, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with standards and best practices.
• Evaluate nursery stock and deliveries for quality, size, and health.
• Advise on soil preparation, mulching, fertilization, and plant establishment techniques.
• Support development of maintenance plans, irrigation schedules, pruning programs, and seasonal planting.
• Prepare technical and inspection reports, plant health assessments, and visual submissions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in horticultural design and implementation for large‑scale projects, preferably in arid or semi‑arid regions.
• Strong knowledge of local climate, soil conditions, and environmental regulations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to mentor junior horticulture staff.
