About the role
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide expert legal guidance across Qatar and the GCC. The role will support a fast‑growing company operating in retail, logistics, and warehousing, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risk.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and deliver comprehensive advice on transactions and commercial matters in Qatar and the broader GCC, including cross‑border deals, joint ventures, franchising, and licensing.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents in English and Arabic, ensuring compliance with Qatari and international laws.
- Advise on compliance with Qatari local laws and regulations, identify legal risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Assist business and GA teams in obtaining licenses and permits for retail, logistics, warehousing, and related operations.
- Collaborate with senior management and business units to ensure legal requirements are met across all operations in Qatar.
- Support business units in communications with Qatari authorities and external stakeholders to maintain a business‑friendly regulatory environment.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and dispute resolution in Qatari courts and alternative forums.
- Monitor changes in Qatari and GCC legal landscapes and proactively inform internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a high‑quality pool of external law firms and advisors, fostering strong relationships.
- Work with the global legal team to ensure consistent legal frameworks and compliance standards across jurisdictions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years in Qatar.
- Extensive knowledge of Qatari corporate, contract, commercial, labor law, and regulatory frameworks for foreign‑invested enterprises.
- Native Arabic speaker with fluent English (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities to convey complex legal matters to non‑legal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal projects, transactions, and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Familiarity with Qatari regulatory authorities, licensing procedures, and government approvals.
- Experience in the retail, logistics, warehousing, or delivery sector, with understanding of supply‑chain, warehouse operations, dark‑store leasing, merchant contracts, and logistics service agreements.
