Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

This senior position is based in Qatar and is responsible for the global protection, enforcement, and commercial optimisation of the organisation’s digital and creative assets. The role sits at the intersection of traditional copyright law and emerging technologies such as generative AI and decentralized distribution.

Key responsibilities

• Advisory & Counsel – act as the primary legal advisor to the C‑Suite on IP risks linked to new product launches and content acquisitions.
• Complex Negotiations – draft and negotiate high‑value licensing, merchandising and distribution agreements with global tech platforms and media partners.
• Litigation & Enforcement – manage external counsel in IP infringement cases and supervise large‑scale digital piracy investigations.
• Policy Advocacy – represent the organisation in industry coalitions to influence digital copyright legislation and international IP standards.
• Compliance – ensure all digital content complies with regional regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in media, tech or entertainment law, including at least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law; US bar exam passed (optional).
• Advanced understanding of blockchain‑based rights tracking, AI licensing frameworks, AI content governance and digital watermarking technologies.
• Proven track record of managing IP portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.
