Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

NAKILAT is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide commercial and legal advice across corporate, shipping, commercial, compliance, financial and regulatory matters for the group and its subsidiaries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on corporate, shipping, commercial, compliance, financial and regulatory issues, including support for subsidiaries and joint ventures.
• Assist Commercial, Planning and Treasury teams in structuring, drafting and negotiating new ventures and expansion projects.
• Support the Commercial and Fleet departments with negotiation and interpretation of LNG/LPG charter parties, management agreements and related contracts.
• Provide general corporate and employment advice to Administration and HR.
• Oversee vessel delivery, ship registration, purchase handling and chartering to third parties.
• Manage commercial and charter party disputes arising from international shipping contracts.
• Draft and negotiate shipbuilding, EPC, offshore platform and conversion contracts for subsidiaries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law; Master’s in maritime law or specialized certificates preferred.
• 10‑15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5‑8 years in a senior legal role within the shipping industry.
• Experience in an international shipping law firm.
