Senior Manager Internal Audit - Construction & EPC

About the role

A group company is seeking an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager to join its Group Internal Audit function in Qatar. The role leads risk-based internal audits across construction, EPC, infrastructure and contracting operations, covering project controls, procurement, commercial management, contract administration, financial controls and governance. The successful candidate brings strong construction industry experience and can independently assess operational and financial risks, identify control weaknesses and advise senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute risk-based internal audit engagements in line with IIA standards, develop audit plans and evaluate governance, risk and internal control frameworks.
• Audit the full project lifecycle, including budgets, cost controls, forecasting, scheduling, variation orders, claims, EOT and subcontract management.
• Review tendering, vendor prequalification, bid evaluations, contract awards, procurement compliance and contract administration.
• Develop Risk Control Matrices (RCMs), run design and operating effectiveness testing, lead fieldwork and prepare audit reports presented to senior management.
• Monitor corrective actions, manage and develop audit team members, and build relationships with project directors, finance, procurement and commercial teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or a related field.
• 12-15 years of experience in internal audit, risk, assurance or compliance; extensive experience auditing construction, EPC, infrastructure or contracting organisations.
• Knowledge of project controls, commercial management, procurement and contract administration, and of project costs, budgets and financial controls.
• Proven ability to lead end-to-end audit engagements; Big 4 experience with construction or infrastructure exposure preferred.
• Preferred: experience in large-scale contracting and infrastructure projects, and familiarity with SAP, Oracle or other ERP systems.
