Senior Process Project Engineer – Product Handling

About the role

The Senior Process Project Engineer will support the Head of Section in leading engineering activities for urea product handling, export conveyor systems, ship loaders and marine facilities. The role combines technical guidance, problem‑solving and analytical oversight to ensure projects align with company strategy and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review process design deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, heat & material balances, simulations) ensuring compliance with licensor, safety and operational requirements.
• Lead and close out HAZOP, SIL and operability studies, and verify fire protection, gas detection and emergency systems per NFPA and QAFCO standards.
• Support hazardous area classification, fire‑water system design and safety layout reviews.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, track progress, report deviations and drive recovery actions.
• Review technical documentation from EPCC contractors, participate in kick‑off meetings and monitor fabrication progress.
• Collaborate with construction teams to ensure correct installation and interface coordination for commissioning.
• Maintain records of technical reviews, NCR resolutions and contribute to the Project Risk Register.

Required profile

• Engineering degree with extensive experience in process design and project engineering.
• Proven track record in urea or related chemical process facilities.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards (NFPA, QAFCO) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage EPCC contract interfaces.

Required skills

• Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) preparation.
• Process simulation and material/heat balance calculations.
• HAZOP and SIL study execution.
• NFPA and QAFCO fire protection and emergency system design.
• Hazardous area classification and fire‑water system design.
• Technical documentation review and NCR management.
• Project coordination with EPCC contractors and internal departments.
