Senior Specialist, Pharmacy and Drug Control

About the role

The Senior Specialist in Pharmacy and Drug Control will ensure the quality, safety, efficacy, and availability of pharmaceutical products marketed in Qatar. This role works within the Ministry of Public Health framework, applying scientific and regulatory standards to meet national objectives and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and update guidelines and SOPs in line with international and local legislation to promote safe and effective medicine use.
• Review and assess applications for local agents, companies, and manufacturers, ensuring compliance with MOPH regulations and quality standards.
• Oversee pricing and re‑pricing requests, importer registrations, and special importation applications for regulatory conformity.
• Inspect community and healthcare facility pharmacies, enforce the Pharmacy Act, and supervise condemnation of non‑compliant, expired, or residual narcotic and psychotropic medicines.
• Prepare technical study reports, warning memos on counterfeit products, and price lists for communication with agents and pharmacies.
• Stay current on legislative changes, advise management on policy impacts, and provide guidance to inspection teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy from a recognized university.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical regulation, inspection, or drug control.
• Relevant license as required by the Healthcare Specialties Department.
