Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology

About the role

The Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology provides high‑quality, evidence‑based care to women in both Labor & Delivery and inpatient settings of a tertiary‑care government hospital. The role demands strong clinical expertise, rapid decision‑making in emergencies, and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care for inpatient and Labor & Delivery patients.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and gynecological conditions.
• Perform normal and assisted vaginal deliveries and support emergency obstetric interventions.
• Participate in daily rounds, multidisciplinary discussions, and clinical handovers.
• Respond promptly to obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
• Ensure adherence to evidence‑based practices, clinical protocols, and patient‑safety standards.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
• Collaborate with consultants, nursing, neonatology, anesthesia, and allied health professionals.
• Communicate treatment plans and progress compassionately to patients and families.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives, audits, and departmental performance measures.

Required profile

• Basic Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Board Certification/Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Minimum 3 years post‑specialty experience in governmental, semi‑governmental, or teaching hospitals.
• Strong experience in Labor & Delivery and inpatient obstetric/gynecological care.
• Eligibility for DHP Specialist licensure in Qatar and a valid medical license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Hospital Information System (HIS) for medical documentation.
