Staff Counselor – Psychological Support for IOM Staff

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Staff Counselor (Type B Consultant) to provide psychological counselling and mental‑health support to its staff and their dependents. Working two days per week, the consultant will deliver both in‑person and online services, assisting staff after critical incidents and contributing to the overall staff welfare programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver confidential one‑to‑one and group psychological counselling to staff members and dependents, both onsite and via online platforms.
• Provide immediate psychological support following critical incidents or emergencies.
• Identify, liaise with, and refer staff to local and regional mental‑health resources for crisis or psychiatric care.
• Design and deliver training on stress management, emotional processing, critical‑incident response, and overall wellbeing.
• Support managers and heads of units with targeted training to foster supportive work environments.
• Collaborate with the Staff Welfare team on monthly supervision, coordination meetings and retreats.
• Facilitate the implementation of preventative initiatives and address issues identified in psychosocial risk assessments.
