Static Mechanical Engineer – Plant Reliability

About the role

SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking a Static Mechanical Engineer to provide high‑level technical expertise for static equipment and piping systems in its Qatar facility. The role focuses on plant reliability, turn‑around execution, and compliance with international design codes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve design calculations, datasheets, drawings and specifications for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and tanks.
• Generate and review P&IDs, material specifications and material take‑offs to meet ASME, ANSI and API standards.
• Perform piping flexibility and stress analysis, and manage changes through the MOC process.
• Define technical scope for turn‑arounds, develop inspection and repair procedures, and supervise critical on‑site repairs.
• Support fitness‑for‑service evaluations, remaining‑life assessments and root‑cause analysis of static equipment failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy continuous‑process chemical plant, petrochemical facility or refinery; fertilizer industry experience preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in PV Elite, CAESAR II and NozzlePRO.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2, ASME B31.3, API 650/620 and TEMA standards.
