Training Instructor Armaments

About the role

The Training Instructor Armament prepares and delivers theoretical and practical training on Typhoon aircraft type, specialist and support training, and assesses trainee performance and the effectiveness of the training system. Training takes place at the Qatar Typhoon Training Facility (QTTF), supplemented by mentored training in the operational environment. The role also covers the duties of the Squadron Training Cell, developing, maintaining and managing the competencies of Squadron personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver the allocated course according to the authorised syllabus and materials, within the training schedule in the Training Management Information System (TMIS).
• Invigilate and mark examinations and assessments, and continuously assess, evaluate and report on trainee progress.
• Ensure trainees use the correct personal protection equipment and follow safety procedures, and that equipment pre-use checks are done and approved data is available.
• Maintain discipline of allocated trainees, including breaks and changeovers, and report absences to the Training Instructor Supervisor or Head of Maintenance.
• Keep training areas, training aids, classrooms, workshops and aircraft in a safe condition.
• Act as Course Coordinator, Subject Lead, aircraft and equipment coordinator or other roles assigned by the Training Instructor Supervisor.
• Develop and maintain their own instructor competencies, and report course deficiencies and improvements to the training system and materials.

Required profile

• Training qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g. Level 3 Award, Level 4 Certificate or Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training).
• NVQ3/ONC level or equivalent in a relevant aircraft maintenance discipline.
• At least 5 years of recent, in-depth experience in a Maintenance & Support environment, including direct support of training activities.
• Minimum 2 years delivering aircraft type training, with operational knowledge of instructional delivery and mentoring.
• Understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to the training system.
