Adjunct Instructor – Introduction to Contemporary Digital Culture

About the role

VCUarts Qatar is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach the undergraduate minor course “Introduction to Contemporary Digital Culture.” The course examines how digital systems, platforms, and data shape human behavior, communication, identity, and culture across diverse contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, discussions, and assessments for Introduction to Contemporary Digital Culture in line with the approved curriculum.
• Design and provide course materials, readings, assignments, and critiques that foster critical analysis, ethnographic observation, and design‑based inquiry.
• Facilitate student reflection on digital practices, power structures, algorithms, and data flows.
• Provide timely feedback, academic support, and maintain regular communication with students and Academic Affairs.
• Ensure a respectful, civil, and intellectually engaging classroom environment and comply with university policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as media studies, communication, digital culture, design studies, anthropology, sociology, or science and technology studies.
