Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the department head in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation for a large hospitality property. The role ensures safety, security and asset protection while driving guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise distribution and tracking of repair work orders, ensuring timely and quality completion.
• Assist in planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life‑safety systems.
• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, water treatment, generators and fire pumps.
• Provide 24/7 emergency response and operate generators and fire pumps as needed.
• Oversee engineering staff and contractors, handling staffing levels, training and performance appraisal.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing engineering and maintenance operations.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics or a related field.
