Azure API Management (APIM) Developer

About the role

The role is responsible for owning the API gateway layer that connects internal services, government entities, and external consumers. You will design, implement, and secure APIs using Azure API Management while driving automation and developer onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement APIs, products, subscriptions, versions, and revisions in Azure API Management.
• Develop APIM policies (XML and C#) for authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, transformation, routing, retries, and error handling.
• Secure APIs with Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, JWT validation, client certificates (mTLS) and managed identities.
• Integrate APIM with backend services such as Azure Functions, App Service, AKS, Logic Apps, Service Bus and on‑premises systems via VNet and self‑hosted gateways.
• Automate deployment using Bicep, ARM or Terraform in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions pipelines.
• Monitor health, performance and usage through Application Insights, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, and troubleshoot production issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of software/integration development with at least 2 years hands‑on Azure API Management experience.
• Experience delivering integrations for government or regulated environments, preferably familiar with Qatar NIA standards.

Required skills

• Azure API Management, APIM policies, XML, C# policy expressions.
• REST, HTTP, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS.
• Backend development in C#/.NET, Java or Node.js.
• Infrastructure as Code: Bicep, ARM, Terraform.
• CI/CD pipelines: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Azure networking: VNets, private endpoints, NSGs, DNS.
• Microsoft Entra ID app registrations and API permissions.
