Business Finance Specialist – Commercial (Marketplace)

About the role

You will act as the finance co‑pilot to the Marketplace General Manager, partnering across Commercial, Finance, Strategy, Product and Marketing. You will own the Marketplace P&L, challenge assumptions, and translate complex financial data into actionable narratives for leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Sit beside the Marketplace GM in weekly steering meetings and strategic debates.
• Own the end‑to‑end Marketplace P&L, including GMV, category margins and contribution margin.
• Partner with Category Managers on assortment, supplier negotiations and joint business plans.
• Push back on commercial assumptions with data‑driven analysis.
• Convert messy P&L dynamics into concise, one‑page narratives for decision‑makers.
• Lead financial cases for new categories, partners, and growth initiatives, delivering ROI, payback and risk assessments.
• Co‑own promo strategy by modelling discount impact, basket economics and funding mix.
• Identify risks and opportunities early and propose corrective actions.
• Build and maintain BI dashboards and data pipelines to provide real‑time commercial insights.

Required profile

• Strong FP&A or commercial finance background with a track record of partnering with commercial leaders.
• Deep understanding of revenue models, unit economics, take‑rate and supplier economics.
• Ability to tell a compelling story with numbers and hold the room at senior leadership level.
• Comfortable operating in fast‑moving, ambiguous, high‑growth environments.
