Cement Mill Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

About the role

The Cement Mill Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, programming, troubleshooting and repairing all electrical, automation and instrumentation assets at the cement grinding station. The role ensures high plant availability, safe operation, accurate process control and optimal production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance on distribution boards, transformers, switchgear, motor control centres, motors and soft starters.
• Maintain high, medium and low voltage motors and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and automation faults on ball mills, separators, elevators, conveyors, fans, bag filters, compressors, silos and packing equipment.
• Calibrate temperature, pressure, level and flow transmitters; maintain gas analyzers, dust monitors and weighing systems.
• Document calibration results and maintenance activities in the SAP PMR system.
• Support PLC hardware and DCS loop troubleshooting, diagnose network communication faults and work with automation engineers to optimise interlocks and start‑up sequences.
• Follow plant safety protocols, identify hazards, and participate in safety drills and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Electronics.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on E&I maintenance experience in heavy industry, preferably in a cement grinding station or similar material‑processing plant.
• Proven ability to service large milling circuits and automated packing lines.

Required skills

• Interpretation of electrical schematics and single‑line diagrams.
• Use of multimeters, meggers, loop calibrators and oscilloscopes.
• VFD programming and soft‑starter configuration.
• Low‑voltage distribution knowledge.
• Basic PLC logic programming (Siemens, ABB).
• Calibration of temperature, pressure, level and flow transmitters.
• Maintenance of gas analyzers and dust monitoring equipment.
• Documentation in SAP PMR.
