Climate Resilience / Disaster Risk Management Expert

About the role

The international consultancy engineering firm is looking for a Climate Resilience / Disaster Risk Management Expert to support its oil and gas project in Rwanda, East Africa. The specialist will provide expert guidance on climate‑related risks, disaster preparedness and environmental risk mitigation to ensure project sustainability and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive climate resilience and disaster risk assessments for the oil and gas project.
• Develop and recommend mitigation and adaptation strategies aligned with international best practices.
• Provide technical advice on environmental risk assessment and integrate findings into project planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to embed resilience measures into engineering designs.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Urban Resilience, or Disaster Risk Management (minimum 15 years of relevant experience).
• Master’s degree in one of the above fields (minimum 10 years of relevant experience).
• Fluent English communication skills.
