Compliance Manager, Qatar

About the role

The Compliance Manager will support the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in managing day‑to‑day operations of the Qatar compliance unit. The role ensures adherence to the bank’s AML/KYC policies, Qatar Central Bank (QCB) regulations, and represents the bank on AML/CFT, sanctions and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain proactive relationships with QCB and other regulators, facilitating communication between branches and authorities.
• Ensure internal policies and procedures stay compliant with regulatory changes, providing guidance to branch management.
• Communicate regulatory notices and circulars, delivering accurate Arabic and English translations.
• Escalate high‑risk issues, develop action plans and monitor their closure.
• Support the development and maintenance of the local Compliance/AML Manual and deliver AML training to Qatar staff.
• Analyse suspicious transactions, conduct investigations and assist the MLRO in filing STRs to QCB.
• Respond to AML, sanctions and regulatory queries from QCB, head office, law‑enforcement agencies and provide expert guidance to branches.
• Ensure all Qatar product programmes, SOPs and transactions comply with QCB requirements and the bank’s AML/KYC policy.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of banking experience with solid understanding of products and operations, especially in the US and Qatar.
• Professional qualification in business, commerce, economics or law.
• CAMS or equivalent compliance certification.
• Strong knowledge of international banking practices, AML, sanctions and central bank regulations.
• Computer literate with excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
