Cook II - Spice Market

About the role

A full-time, non-management Cook II position is available at the Spice Market restaurant in Doha, Qatar. The cook prepares food according to recipes, quality standards and presentation standards, and works within the hotel's kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, and prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and the food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods to make sure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality.
• Set up and break down the workstation, and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment, and check that appliance and food temperatures are correct.
• Follow company and safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents and injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a clean, professional appearance.
• Work in a team, support colleagues, and perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods, reach overhead and below the knees, and lift objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
