Data Governance (Privacy & Security) Expert

About the role

The Data Governance (Privacy & Security) Expert will lead enterprise‑wide initiatives to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with all relevant privacy, security and regulatory requirements. Reporting to senior leadership, the role shapes governance frameworks, implements data protection controls and promotes a culture of responsible data usage across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing compliance with internal policies, legal obligations, regulatory standards and contractual commitments related to data privacy and security.
• Monitor and assess adherence to data‑protection, cybersecurity and privacy laws; identify gaps and recommend remediation.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and data‑protection risk assessments for new projects, systems and operational activities.
• Support internal and external audits, develop remediation plans and track implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop, implement and maintain enterprise data‑security policies, standards and procedures.
• Enforce information‑security controls to protect PHI, PII and other sensitive data, including identity and access management, data classification, encryption, retention and secure disposal.
• Collaborate with business, operational, compliance, legal and technical teams to embed privacy and security requirements into processes and systems.
• Monitor the effectiveness of security controls and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization’s security posture.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data‑privacy, data‑protection and information‑security programmes at an enterprise level.
• Deep understanding of relevant regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA and other regional privacy frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, perform impact assessments and develop remediation strategies.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across business, legal, compliance and technical functions.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to design and maintain governance frameworks, policies and standards.
