Director of Housekeeping

About the role

The Director of Housekeeping leads the Housekeeping Department to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and overall upkeep across the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, food & beverage outlets, banquet facilities and back‑of‑house areas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental objectives aligned with hotel business goals.
• Supervise housekeeping operations, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and guest satisfaction standards.
• Inspect all areas and take corrective actions to meet Kempinski cleanliness and maintenance standards.
• Develop, review and update housekeeping policies, procedures and standards.
• Select, train, schedule and manage performance of direct and indirect staff.
• Manage linen inventory, guest supplies and ordering to meet quality and business needs.
• Coordinate duties with Front Desk, Engineering, Sales & Marketing and Food & Beverage for timely cleaning.
• Participate in refurbish and renovation projects, including planning, execution and snag list completion.
• Prepare annual budget and staffing guide, managing the department within budgetary limits.
• Oversee contracts for plant rental, window cleaning, night cleaning, pest management, and other services, ensuring compliance.
• Plan hotel decoration for special functions and festive seasons.
• Manage performance of flower shop and valet shop to meet quality and business targets.
• Stay updated on new equipment, cleaning products, local competition and industry trends.
• Perform administrative duties such as leading meetings, writing reports and memos.
