Electrical Distribution Technician (High Voltage)

About the role

The Electrical Distribution Technician will ensure reliable operation of high‑ and medium‑voltage electrical distribution systems and airfield lighting at Al Udeid Air Base. This position supports continuous mission readiness by performing maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs in a demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage distribution equipment.
• Inspect, service, and repair runway, taxiway, apron, and navigational lighting systems.
• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on all electrical infrastructure.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, lockout/tagout procedures, and site‑specific safety regulations.
• Coordinate with airfield operations and other maintenance disciplines to meet mission requirements.
• Document maintenance actions, inspections, and system status accurately.
• Respond to emergency outages and mission‑critical electrical issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience with high‑ or medium‑voltage systems.
• Minimum five years of experience in airfield lighting installation and maintenance.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to meet USCENTCOM deployment policies and obtain a Qatar residency visa.
• Willingness to work in extreme dust, heat, and long‑hour conditions.
• DoD Secret clearance (must be maintained).
