Electrical Distribution Technician (High Voltage)

About the role

The Electrical Distribution Technician (High Voltage) will operate, maintain, inspect and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage electrical distribution systems and airfield lighting infrastructure supporting operations at Al Udeid Air Base. The position ensures safe, reliable power delivery and continuous mission support in a demanding, deployed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Maintain, inspect and repair runway, taxiway, apron and navigational lighting systems.
• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and infrastructure.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures and site regulations.
• Coordinate with airfield operations and other maintenance disciplines to meet mission requirements.
• Document maintenance actions, inspections and system status accurately.
• Respond to emergency outages and mission‑critical electrical issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience with high‑ or medium‑voltage distribution systems.
• Minimum five years of experience in airfield lighting installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and meet USCENTCOM deployment requirements.
• Willingness to work in extreme dust, high‑temperature conditions and endure long hours.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a residency visa for Qatar.
