Electrical Engineer – Earthing & Lightning Protection

About the role

We are looking for a results‑oriented Electrical Engineer with at least five years of experience in designing, installing, testing and commissioning earthing (grounding) and lightning protection systems. The role focuses on delivering reliable solutions for high‑rise buildings, substations, commercial developments and major infrastructure projects in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Design comprehensive earthing, grounding and lightning protection systems in line with project specifications and standards such as KAHRAMAA, QCDD, IEC 62305, IEEE 80/142 and BS EN 62305.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations, specifications, method statements and material submittals.
• Perform earthing system calculations (earth resistance, soil resistivity, step and touch potential) and design LPS and surge protection solutions.
• Supervise installation, ensure compliance with approved drawings and safety requirements, and lead testing, inspection and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, authorities and other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience, preferably in Qatar or the GCC, with proven work on high‑rise buildings, substations or large commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of KAHRAMAA and QCDD regulatory requirements and international standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and site‑coordination skills.

Required skills

• Earthing/Grounding system design and calculations.
• Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) and surge protection design.
• Familiarity with IEC 62305, IEEE 80, IEEE 142 and BS EN 62305 standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering/design software.
• Experience with electrical testing equipment and commissioning procedures.
