Electrical Power Production Technician – Secret Clearance

About the role

The Electrical Power Production Technician is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining electrical generating plants and mobile power equipment. This position requires a Secret clearance and ensures reliable power delivery through precise control of generators, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, operate, and modify electrical power plants, distribution equipment, and automatic transfer panels.
• Position and service gasoline, diesel, turbine engines, generators, switchgear, air compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
• Inspect, test, and service safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pump, regulator, and governor systems.
• Operate high‑voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other control devices on switchboards and distribution panels.
• Adjust and synchronize engine‑generator systems to maintain proper voltage, frequency, and load sharing.
• Perform corrosion control, gauge and meter replacement, bench checks, and calibration of repaired components.
• Document inspections, maintenance actions, meter readings, fuel consumption, and performance data.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of experience operating and maintaining engines, generators, and power distribution equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical publications, schematics, and inspection findings.
• Clearance eligibility for Secret level.

Required skills

• Operating high‑voltage switches and circuit breakers.
• Operating rheostats and automatic transfer panels.
• Using precision test equipment for diagnostics.
• Adjusting and synchronizing multi‑generator systems.
