Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the electrical systems of an industrial plant, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), switchgear and transformers.
• Inspect, test and maintain electrical panels, breakers, relays and control circuits.
• Assist in plant start‑up, shutdown and commissioning activities.
• Monitor electrical performance, read drawings and ensure safety compliance.

Required profile

• Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• 3–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in water treatment, wastewater treatment or desalination plants.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with MV/LV switchgear, VFDs and MCC panels.
• Proficiency with PLC and SCADA systems.
• Ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Experience with UPS, generators, insulation resistance testing and protection relays.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout and permit‑to‑work procedures.
