Engineering Manager - RasLaffan

About the role

Dolphin Energy Qatar is looking for an Engineering Manager based in RasLaffan to lead engineering and construction projects from concept through to commissioning. The role covers strategy, budget, vendor and contractor management, and technical oversight of design and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop strategies for implementing project phases and execution approaches, and lead the initial project concept, scope and feasibility study with the Planning team.
• Manage the work of subordinates and contractors so that all project activities follow operating procedures and policies.
• Contribute to the project budget with the cost estimation team and monitor financial performance against it.
• Recommend improvements to departmental procedures and ensure procedural and legislative requirements are met.
• Lead the design review of consultants' and contractors' concepts, drawings, specifications, tenders and submittals to comply with Dolphin Energy Qatar standards and project briefs.
• Determine project resourcing, identify risks and prepare contingency plans for improvement projects.
• Lead costing of materials, equipment or labour to assess project feasibility.
• Lead and take part in vendor selection and coordinate with vendors on design and execution.
• Collect, validate and analyse project progress data to highlight variances and keep senior executives confident in delivery.
• Guide teams and contractors to meet contractual milestones, quality measures and the allocated budget.
• Lead projects from engineering and construction methods through planning, cost and schedule control, procurement, permits, contracting, construction management and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• A professional Project Management qualification from a globally recognised institute is preferred.
• At least 10 years of total experience, including 8 years in project engineering management in a large manufacturing facility in the energy sector, with at least 4 years in progressively more senior managerial roles.
• Experience managing vendor and contractor relationships.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of PM systems integration, project whole-life processes, validation and verification techniques and tools.
• Ability to identify project critical paths and set milestones.
• Resource estimation (manpower, materials, finance) and understanding of project cash flow management.
