English Teacher (IGCSE)

About the role

Durham School for Girls is seeking an English Teacher to deliver the IGCSE curriculum. The role focuses on providing high‑quality, engaging lessons that meet UK Teaching Standards while respecting the school’s MARK values and Qatari Ministry of Education guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver effective IGCSE English lessons, adapting instruction to diverse learner needs.
• Develop and implement curriculum plans aligned with subject standards, assessment objectives and the school’s cultural values.
• Utilise technology and innovative tools to enhance student‑led learning and engagement.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and monitor progress.
• Continuously assess student learning and adjust instruction, including differentiated strategies as directed by line managers or SENCO.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment, establishing clear behaviour expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues, contribute to professional development activities and uphold school policies.
• Report any curriculum or resource concerns that conflict with DSGD or Qatari values to the line manager promptly.
