English Teacher

About the role

The English Teacher will deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons at Durham School for Girls in Qatar, ensuring alignment with UK Teaching Standards, the school’s MARK values, and Qatari Ministry of Education requirements. The role supports student well‑being, academic growth, and the overall school community.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging English lessons that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
• Develop and implement curriculum plans, integrating technology and innovative tools to promote active, student‑led learning.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback and assess student progress to inform differentiated instruction.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment, establishing clear behaviour expectations and fostering respect and collaboration.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues using the school portal, email, and other platforms, ensuring clear updates on progress and any concerns.
• Support student well‑being by addressing issues such as bullying, discrimination, and mental health, and collaborate with support services as needed.
• Engage in continuous professional development, staying current with curriculum changes, educational research, and best teaching practices.
• Act as an ambassador for the school, promoting its values and participating in extracurricular activities, events, and staff meetings.
