Environmental Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Environmental Compliance Specialist supports the development and improvement of environmental programs across industrial sites. The role focuses on hazardous material and waste management, water quality testing, and recycling initiatives while ensuring compliance with USG, host‑nation, EPA and DOT regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and advise on environmental management practices in the workplace.
• Conduct inspections, prepare reports, and update compliance databases.
• Test drinking water and wastewater for compliance with applicable standards.
• Collect recyclable commodities and support the Qualified Recycling Program.
• Assist with the free‑issue, receipt, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
• Develop and deliver environmental, safety and health training, including newcomer orientation.
• Participate in quality, safety, and environmental working groups.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow all ESH regulations.

Required profile

• High School diploma with at least 6 years of environmental work experience, or an associate degree with 2‑3 years of experience.
• Military background and familiarity with US Army environmental regulations is a plus.
• Fluent in English – able to read, write reports and communicate with US military and contracting personnel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a local driver’s license.
• Minimum two years of experience as an environmental, safety or health inspector.

Required skills

• 40‑hour or 24‑hour HAZWOPER certification (desired).
• OSHA 30‑hour construction certification (required).
• Knowledge of EPA and DOT hazardous waste regulations.
• Water and wastewater testing procedures.
• Recycling program management.
• Environmental training development and delivery.
