Family Physician

About the role

The Specialist – Family Medicine will deliver comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered primary healthcare to individuals and families of all ages within a tertiary‑care governmental hospital in Qatar. The role emphasizes preventive care, chronic disease management, health promotion, early diagnosis, and coordinated patient care while upholding high clinical quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions across all age groups.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage common illnesses and health concerns.
• Promote preventive health through screenings, vaccinations, lifestyle counseling, and education.
• Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and dyslipidemia following evidence‑based guidelines.
• Conduct patient assessments, physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic investigations.
• Coordinate referrals to specialty services and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions, clinical audits, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to clinical governance, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Family Medicine (Arab Board, American Board, UK CCT/MRCGP, Canadian Board, or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years post‑board experience as a Family Medicine specialist.
• Eligibility for a Specialist license under Qatar DHP regulations.
• Experience in governmental, primary‑care, teaching, or tertiary‑care hospitals is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Hospital Information System (HIS) for documentation and patient management.
