Field Service Engineer - System 800xA (Safety)

About the role

ABB is looking for a Field Service Engineer specialized in System 800xA safety solutions to join its PAEN‑Qatar team. You will work on‑site with customers, delivering low‑to‑medium complexity service tasks while ensuring safety, quality and first‑time‑right execution.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers on‑site to identify operational improvement opportunities and eliminate pain points.
• Perform field service tasks, diagnose technical issues and conduct remote or on‑site analysis for System 800xA products.
• Prepare and verify material lists, ensuring all parts and equipment are available and meet quality standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures, propose corrective actions and recommend preventive measures.
• Document service activities in accordance with ABB processes, quality standards and safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Graduate Engineer in Instrumentation, Electrical or equivalent engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in customer support, project or service engineering for System 800xA safety systems, preferably in Oil & Gas or Power & Water.
• Hands‑on experience with both hardware and software aspects of System 800xA, including AC800M HI library application development.
• Knowledge of Functional Safety Management Systems and relevant certifications (e.g., TUV FS Engineer, ABB certifications) is a plus.
• Familiarity with IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 standards and functional safety engineering practices.
