Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller is the financial backbone of a leading hotel in Doha, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring fiscal discipline, and providing strategic financial leadership to protect assets and drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide accurate financial forecasts.
• Analyse variances and deliver actionable insights to department heads.
• Ensure compliance with USALI and local accounting standards.
• Establish, monitor and enforce internal control policies to protect assets.
• Oversee internal, external and government audit functions.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and capital expenditure investments.
• Supervise accounting operations including AP, AR, Income Audit, Night Audit and Payroll.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and F&B to control inventory and minimise waste.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance and accounting team.
• Act as a strategic partner to the General Manager and department heads.
• Present financial performance to owners, investors and corporate executives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management or related field.
• MBA, CPA or CMA highly preferred.
• 5+ years progressive financial management experience, including 2‑3 years as Financial Controller or Assistant Controller in hospitality.
• Strong analytical thinking, impeccable integrity and excellent leadership communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hospitality Management Information Systems (Opera PMS, Micros POS).
• Advanced use of accounting software (SUN Systems, Sage, QuickBooks).
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills.
