Fire Equipment Technician

About the role

The Fire Equipment Technician is responsible for testing, inspecting, repairing, maintaining and cleaning a wide range of fire and rescue equipment, including SCBA units, hydraulic rescue tools, compressors, cylinders and protective suits. The position supports deployments in Qatar and requires adherence to strict safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Service, clean, test and pressure‑check Hurst and Holmatro hydraulic rescue tools, including valves, pumps and prime movers.
• Perform inspections, hydrostatic testing, recertification and maintenance of SCBA cylinders, compressors, refill stations and air monitoring equipment.
• Inspect, service, test and recertify Level A and Level B protective suits and J‑Fire masks.
• Maintain fire hoses, nozzles, ladders, fire apparatus and small engines.
• Document all work, ensure compliance with NFPA, DOT and MSA standards, and prepare equipment for redeployment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of fire/rescue equipment maintenance experience.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, U.S. passport and ability to obtain a Qatar residency visa.
• Active DoD SECRET clearance and ability to meet USCENTCOM deployment requirements.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in extreme dust and high‑temperature environments.

Required skills

• SCBA and MSA equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Hydraulic rescue tool (Hurst/Holmatro) servicing.
• Hydrostatic testing of compressed‑gas cylinders (DOT certified).
• Air monitor calibration (MSA R.I.TE., MultiRAE).
• Protective suit (A‑Level/B‑Level) and J‑Fire mask maintenance.
• Compressor and gas‑refill system repair.
• Knowledge of NFPA 1071, NFPA 10, NFPA 1932, HazMat inspection standards.
